This building forms part of a monastery complex at Esker near Athenry, Co. Galway. The building was originally built as a schoolhouse in the mid-19th century but was used as a machinery shed for most of the 20th century.  The brief was to create a chapel and prayer room that offered flexibility of use for retreats.
