Saint Mary’s Church is an important component of the architectural heritage of Leixlip and attests to the long-standing ecclesiastical presence in the town. Built on the site of, and probably incorporating the fabric of an earlier medieval church, the present building, dating from the early 19th century is of architectural, historical and archaeological significance. The church and surrounding walled graveyard are included in the Co. Kildare Record of Protected Structures with elements included in the Record of Monuments and Places.
Architectural services provided by MVK Architects are associated with the upgrading of the electrical and fire detection installation.
