Earlier this year saw the official opening of The Shackleton Garden following the completion of restoration of the masonry elements and refurbishment of greenhouses, potting shed, pond, gates, well and the paths. The walled garden was part of the former Beech Park demesne in Clonsilla, laid out in 1830s, and is now under the care of Fingal Co.Co. Beech Park was home to renowned plantsman, David Shackleton, a relative of the great polar explorer Ernest Shackleton.
